Embarking on a journey of self-discovery can often feel like navigating a complex maze. With TikTok open, I sat there staring at my phone and had a bit of imposter syndrome. Fuck, I knew my first video was going to be cringe and I had to embrace the journey. Recently, I delved into the labyrinth of social media and TikTok, and began exploring various aspects of personal growth and self-belief. From the importance of self-care to the power of vulnerability, each step has provided valuable insights into my own life and personal development.

So after much reflection, here are three key takeaways from my first 10 days:


The Salsa Dance of Self-Belief and Action

Think of self-belief and action as dance partners in the salsa of personal growth. They need to be in sync, or you'll find yourself stepping on more than just toes. Picture self-belief as the enthusiastic dancer, bursting with energy, ready to conquer the dance floor of life. As I started making videos and creating content, I quickly discovered how my self-belief and actions began to align. My salsa dance has only just begun, however, I was making progress and strutting my stuff toward a bigger picture.

Psychology tells us that self-efficacy, which is essentially your mental salsa skills, majorly impacts your ability to face the music of life’s challenges and dance your way to your goals. It's not just about having a peppy internal cheerleader; it's about those cheerleading thoughts leading you to strut onto the dance floor with confidence.

And here's where it gets interesting – every time you successfully bust a move (read: take action), your self-belief gets a high-five. It’s a fabulous feedback loop. Your belief kickstarts your action, and each action is like an encore that tells your belief, "You're onto something!" So, lace up those dancing shoes, it's time to tango with your potential!

Imagine self-care and setting boundaries as the ultimate spa day for your soul. In our world where being busy is a badge of honor, pausing for self-care is like finding an all-inclusive resort in the middle of a desert marathon. Regular self-care practices are the mental equivalent of hydrating, stretching, and getting a good massage.

So what do you do for self care? Seriously, I had to pause and consider how I could incorporate more self care into my life! And for me, I started reading in the evening and outlined a nightly routine.

Now, let’s talk boundaries. They're not about building the Great Wall of "Nope" around yourself. Think of them more like those fancy spa robes – they provide comfort and define your personal space. (And yes, I do love my new robe that IHG Resorts / Staybridge Suites sent me!)

Boundaries ensure you don’t end up like a well-intentioned cucumber in a salad when you’re meant for a relaxing eye mask.

So, embrace self-care and boundary-setting like a VIP spa package. It’s not indulgence; it’s maintenance! Keeping your mental garden thriving means sometimes telling the world, "Sorry, we're closed for rejuvenation." Trust me, your mind will thank you, and your soul will give you a five-star rating!


Vulnerability: The Karaoke of Personal Growth

Think of vulnerability as getting up for karaoke – it's a bit terrifying, but also liberating! Brené Brown, the queen of vulnerability (and probably a secret karaoke enthusiast), shows us that it's not about hitting every note perfectly. It's the gutsy act of grabbing that microphone and belting out your song, off-key or not. And if you know me, I love singing Miley Cryrus’ “Party in the USA” at karaoke! I may not be a great singer, but I always have the confidence to perform at my best.

Embracing vulnerability isn't signing up to be the emotional equivalent of a doormat. Nope, it's more like stepping onto the stage of authenticity. It’s showing the world your unfiltered self, pimples and all, and saying, "Yep, that's me, and I rock!" It’s about singing your heart out, even when you have no idea if you'll be applauded or get the side-eye.

As I mentioned before, you have to embrace the cringe. I know there are people questioning what I’m doing, however, I’m fully embracing this journey!

This openness, far from being your Achilles' heel, is actually your backstage pass to deeper connections and personal growth. When you drop the act and get real, you're not just doing a solo; you’re inviting others to join in your chorus. So, let’s grab our metaphorical mics and embrace our vulnerabilities.
